MrPedal.com is Back — And Better Than Ever
After a long hiatus, MrPedal.com has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and relaunched for a new era of tone chasing. If you were a fan of the original site, welcome back. If you're discovering us for the first time — you picked a great time to show up.
The original MrPedal.com launched back in 2015 as a personal passion project. I had a growing collection of guitar pedals, strong opinions about all of them, and nowhere good to put that energy. The site became a home for honest pedal reviews, real-world pricing data, and the kind of gear knowledge that only comes from actually plugging things in and playing.
Life got busy, the site went quiet, and eventually it just sat there — frozen in time on an aging codebase, with a UI that screamed 2014. It worked, but it wasn't something I was proud to show people anymore.
So I rebuilt it. Everything.
What's New
The new MrPedal.com is built on Rails 8 with a modern, fast architecture designed to scale. The catalog has been completely refreshed with over 170 pedals at launch — including the full back catalog from the original site, the complete JHS Pedals lineup (all 63 of them), the entire MOD Electronics DIY kit catalog, and gear from Strymon, EarthQuaker Devices, Boss, MXR, Electro-Harmonix, Walrus Audio, and more.
Search is now powered by Elasticsearch — type "fuzz" or "analog delay" and you get genuinely relevant results, ranked by how well they match. Photos are real product shots stored in the cloud. Every pedal page has specs, pricing data, history, and a space for community reviews.
The pedal catalog also now has a full Categories section, so if you know you're hunting for a reverb or a compressor, you can browse straight to what you need without wading through every overdrive we have listed.
The Toneroom
This right here is where the writing lives. Think of the Toneroom as the editorial side of MrPedal.com — gear deep dives, buying guides, the history behind legendary circuits, technique articles, and the occasional hot take on whether analog delay actually sounds better than digital (it depends on what you're doing, and we'll make the case properly in a future article).
We'll be publishing new Toneroom articles regularly. Topics will range from beginner pedalboard guides to deep dives on specific circuits — the kind of writing that assumes you care about the details. If there's something you'd like to see covered, drop us a line through the contact page.
The Community
Create a free account and you can leave reviews on any pedal in the catalog. Rate it from 1 to 5, write about your experience, tell us what amp you ran it through and what it did to your tone. That kind of real-world knowledge — from players who actually own the gear — is what made the original site worth bookmarking.
Voting is back too. Found a pedal you love? Give it a thumbs up so other players can see what the community rates highly. The most-liked pedals surface on the homepage, so good gear gets discovered.
What's Coming
This is a living site and the catalog will keep growing. We're planning to add pedals from TC Electronic, Walrus Audio, Keeley, Chase Bliss Audio, Way Huge, and a long list of boutique builders in the coming weeks. The DIY category is going to get significant attention as we dig into kit builds, mods, and the world of making your own effects.
On the feature side, we're working on pedalboard builder tools, side-by-side comparison pages, and a few things I'm not ready to talk about yet but am genuinely excited to ship. Stay tuned.
